A bike shop that gives back through custom bikes

Highlander Bicycle Co. in Atlantic Highlands was founded by husband and wife Jason and Diane Chabak in fall of 2023. Located on the corner of First Avenue and Ocean Boulevard, the bike shop sits close to the marina, creating a perfect opportunity to jump right on the Henry Hudson bike trail. It is also a quick ride from the shop to Hartshorne Woods Park and Huber Woods Park for the best mountain biking in Monmouth County. The shop offers bike sales, servicing and athletic apparel.

Aside from having a wide variety of bikes for the whole family, mountain bikes, high-end road bikes and ebikes, Highlander creates a welcoming atmosphere and a community landing spot even if it's just to take a little break and say hi. There is a foosball table in the front window where you will find local kids and adults stopping by for a quick match. Giftables and athletic apparel also line the front of the store.

As their newest addition, Highlander has developed a custom bike program to pair up with other local businesses to raise money for important causes. The first collaboration is with First Avenue neighbors and friends Little Chicken. Together with the custom apparel gurus they designed a custom bike that represents Little Chicken's aesthetic. The bike will raise money for Liv Like A Unicorn, a local foundation supporting childhood brain and spinal cord cancer research. To enter to win the colorful custom Little Chicken bike (perfect for riders ages 5-9), customers enter to win at either store or right on Little Chicken's website.

In August, Highlander hosted a summer event filled with summer sales, complimentary fairy hair, and chances to enter to win the bike.  The lucky winner will be drawn the second weekend in September.  This bike is the first local bike collaboration, creating a new sporty and fun opportunity to give back.
