Circus Wines, Beer & Spirits is now open in what used to be the Manhattan Bagel in Lincroft Commons on Newman Springs Road.

Owned by both the Azzolina and Scaduto families, it is their fourth liquor store under the Circus umbrella that also includes five Foodtown supermarkets in Monmouth County.

The two families have been a part of Monmouth County business for decades, going back to the 1950s and a candy shop in Highlands. What you may not know is that the business is actually a single-family endeavor, as the two families are cousins.

Anyone who has driven Rt. 35 in Middletown is familiar with the giant 30-foot-tall red, blue, and yellow circus clown that has been a part of the area since 1956 when the first Food Circus Supermarket was built. Calico, as the clown is named, has long been a part of the fun, family gathering theme Circus has always projected. Soon that flagship location will undergo a renovation with some exciting changes on the horizon, including a separate tasting room, classrooms for wine, beer, and liquor education plus food pairing courses, and possibly a café offering wines by the glass and small bites.

All four liquor stores are known for their incredibly wide variety of wines from all over the world, as well as their beer selection that includes many locally brewed offerings. The company is known to pride itself on being able to acquire any beverage from anywhere in the world upon request.
