Holmdel’s Annual Earth Day Festival Returns

On May 1 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., the annual Holmdel Earth Day Festival returns after a two-year hiatus.

This free festival will feature kid friendly presentations, nature crafts, and so much more. Guided Tours of the gracious historic Harding House will give a glimpse into the world of the late heiress who lived here and hosted movie stars of the day. Tours are free, but limited, and House Tours will require face masks. Tour Tickets as well as programs, raffles, and other free items will be available at the Welcome Center.

Find answers to your global and gardening questions with exhibits presented by several renowned environmental organizations. Local grassroots activists and perennial Festival co-sponsors, Citizens for Informed Land Use (CILU), will have information pertinent to Holmdel environmental issues.

Also expected are Holmdel Historic Society (showcasing an original Holmdel prohibition whiskey still), Holmdel Boy and Girl Scout Troops, as well as Festival co-sponsor, Holmdel Environmental Commission.

As always, hot dogs, homemade sandwiches, and fresh baked goodies will be for sale at the Red Barn Deli and Olde Fashioned Bake Shoppe. Bayonet Farm Earth Day Tee Shirts will also be available for purchase.

Hikers who wish to start their day with an easy-to-moderate Greenway Walk to the Festival led by former Mayor Larry Fink are welcomed. Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Ramanessin Section trailhead parking area on Roberts Road, opposite the Holmdel Park Arboretum. This is a one-way hike that arrives in time for the Festival, plan on walking back or arranging car transportation from Bayonet Farm. Bayonet Farm is located at 41 Middletown Road in Holmdel.
