Holmdel Township will be hosting its inaugural Bayonet Farm trail run on October 24, located at 41 Middletown Road in Holmdel.
Proceeds from the race will go to the upkeep of the beautiful network of trails that cuts through the old growth forest behind the farm and connects to a loop that brings runners past open hay fields near Holmdel Park and back across the Ramenessin Brook.
The lollipop-shaped loop is a bit longer than 5K and parts of it are steep and challenging. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., trail runners will appreciate the rugged terrain and picturesque landscape – but please note there are lots of roots and rocks, no road access and only one water station by the Ramenessin Brook Bridge. The path of the trail will be marked by orange ribbons and volunteers stationed at certain junctions on the loop. Runners will be chip timed and awarded for top finishes for the overall race and age groups.
The Kids Race, which will start at 8:15 a.m., will be just under a mile, heading out on the red trail and quickly looping back to the farm. Bring your family to enjoy the farm and bring your dog to enjoy the farm’s new dog park that opened up this year.
The big red barn will be open with music, plus food and hot/cold drinks on sale from local businesses.
All members of the public are welcome to attend. Registration is $50 per person, the Kids Run is FREE. Registration is required HERE.
