Holmdel Mayor DJ Luccarelli and the Township Committee announced that they will be sponsoring a donation drive to provide aid to those affected by this month’s earthquake in Turkey and Syria. All members of the Holmdel community and our neighbors are invited to participate.
Donated items can be dropped off in the lobby of Holmdel Town Hall, located at 4 Crawfords Corner Road. The Township asks that donations be limited to the specifically requested items in order to expedite packing and ensure delivery of the items to the affected areas.
Mayor Luccarelli commented on the donation drive saying, “Holmdel residents have a history of supporting neighbors during times of need and I am confident that we will step up as a community to help the victims of this deadly earthquake.” He continued, “I’m very grateful to one of our residents, who first suggested the idea to the Township Committee and prompted us to organize this donation drive.”
Deputy Mayor Rocco Impreveduto shared the mayor’s sentiments, “this is an excellent example of local government and citizens working together to accomplish something meaningful.” He added, “I am happy this idea was brought to our attention and I echo the mayor’s invitation for generous participation in this effort.”
Holmdel Township will be collecting items through Friday, March 10th. Items will be shipped to the affected areas of Turkey and Syria through participating aid organizations.
In his announcement of the donation drive, Mayor Luccarelli expressed his gratitude to the residents of Holmdel. “On Behalf of my colleagues on the Township Committee, I thank all of our residents and neighbors in advance for their generous participation in this relief effort.”
