Kevin Smith, the iconic actor/director/producer, and the team behind nostalgic pop-up phenomenon’s like Saved by the Max and The Peach Pit, have created Mooby’s a pop up homage that brings Smith’s cult classic fast food concept to life. After the unwavering success of an initial run in West Hollywood and nationwide delivery kits with Goldbelly, Mooby’s made its official move to Red Bank for one week only (September 18th – September 25th). Taking over Gianni’s Pizza (15 Wikoff Place, Red Bank), the socially distanced pop-up is giving fans the opportunity to safely immerse themselves into the world first created by Smith in the 1999 film, Dogma.
“The hospitality industry was turned upside down during this unprecedented time,” says one of the pop-ups creators Derek Berry. “And more than ever people need a place to lift their spirits. Mooby’s has proven to be the perfect hybrid version of our pop-up model. One that allows these types of nostalgic experiences to continue while maintaining both the safety and happiness of fans. We couldn’t be more excited to bring it all home to Red Bank!”
At the opening, all guests received a pre-ordered “Mooby’s Pick-Up Experience” for $28 which included their choice of one Moo Main (Cow Tipper or Cow Tipper with Beyond Burger, Cock Smoker Chicken Sandwich, Lasagna Sandwich with Beyond Meat, Egga Mooby Muffin with Beyond Sausage) plus a Salt Lick Side (Hater Totz or Onion Rings to rule them all) all created by Executive Chef Royce Burke (owner of LA’s Secret Lasagna). To maintain proper flow and wait times, guests were not allowed to add-on any “hot items” to their experience. A la carte items such as soda in commemorative cups, dessert, and merchandise from the Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash shop could have been added during pick up.
All pre-purchased Mooby’s experiences include a set pick-up time window, limited number of guests admitted per time window, staggered arrival times, outdoor check-in, social-distancing enforcement throughout, and complete space sanitization between each and every guest time window. All Mooby’s staff are required to wear facial coverings, along with the installation of barriers in instances where customers and workers can’t observe the six-foot rule.
The pop-up experience (carryout and patio dining available) will also feature several photo moments for fans to safely play in the world of Kevin Smith while they wait for their food. While waiting for food, take a spin through Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash shop featuring an exclusive collection of both Jay & Silent Bob and Mooby’s merchandise, including Mooby’s non-medical masks. Afterwards be sure to swing by Red Tank Brewery for a new signature Mooby’s beer (available for pickup).
Mooby’s will be open for one week only, September 18th through September 25th.
