When Calls the Heart Season Eight Finale

My guess at how this all will end…

It’s a big weekend on Hallmark Channel! A new movie Saturday night, (Baby, It’s Cold Inside), a sneak peek at the new season of Good Witch (Click HERE for more) on Sunday night, and after weeks of ‘who will she choose’, Elizabeth finally decides whom she loves on When Calls the Heart.

All week Hallmark Channel has been teasing that Hope Valley will say goodbye to one of her own and Elizabeth will choose whom her heart desires. We’ll also find out what happened to Jesse, as he has gone missing, and see if Carson and Faith choose love over their careers.

I have zero intel on these matters, so everything that follows is purely speculation. But I have watched the series since episode one and am one of the few who called the death of Jack. I don’t see too much more coming for Hope Valley, it appears the stories are all wrapping up nicely. So, I do believe this finale will be a big one and will answer many outstanding questions.

Who is leaving Hope Valley? The obvious answer is Carson, as he is contemplating the new job in Boston. He also thought about proposing to Faith, but now seems sure she wants to stay in town. I think there’s a chance Henry will be the one who decides to leave. We’ve recently learned of his son and his letters from Abigail. His heart is leading him elsewhere, and I do believe he will choose to follow. When the stagecoach comes, I think both Carson and Henry will climb on board with Faith waving a tearful goodbye.

As for Jesse, the search party will find him in the woods and he will be basically unharmed. Loving care from Clara will heal him, and Bill will find a way to get their money back from the swindler that cheated them. I also think there is a chance Clara will announce she’s with child.

Rosemary and Lee, my two favorite characters, have always been a joy to watch. Both basically happy and upbeat, their love story is sweet and gentle and shows respect and understanding. The newspaper will be a nice mission for her and a way for her and Lee to expand their influence on the town. I think Lee would most likely go on to be Mayor and perhaps Governor of the area – as Rosemary would make the perfect first lady. They may not be actual parents, but they certainly help Elizabeth raise Little Jack and show parental guidance to Jesse and Clara as well as others.

As for Elizabeth and the school, somehow an exception will be made and the little blind girl will be allowed in class. Bill will work his magic here as well, perhaps with some help from Lucas who seems to always know the right person to call. This will endear Lucas to Elizabeth and lead her to a realization about her feelings.

After what seems like much too long, Lucas and Nathan arrived in town during Season Six, Elizabeth will decide which man should be Little Jack’s stepfather. The debate over which man she should choose has divided Hearties, as Nathan seems the more upstanding while Lucas the more romantic and slightly dangerous. I think there’s a good chance she will not choose either man, realizing she still loves her deceased husband Jack too much to share her heart with another. If that is how things shake out, Nathan will find a new love in Faith and Lucas will perhaps be drawn to businesswoman Fiona.

If Elizabeth does choose, I think she will pick Lucas. In last week’s episode, Elizabeth and Nathan shared an endearing moment of her warming his coat by the fire. As she went to button the coat for him – she stopped and looked at him for a long moment. It may have seemed as though she realized her love for him, but I believe she understood that he is not Jack and that she was drawn to him as a Mountie, not as a man. Faith and Nathan, now both hurting, will find comfort with one another.

So there you have it, Hearties. My best guess at how this all plays out. Lucas has done everything he can for Elizabeth – whether building her a library or getting her a writing career – because he truly loves her. Because he owns a saloon it has always appeared that he may have shady business dealings, but there has been no true evidence he is anything but a good man. I think him helping save the school will be the final realization for our Elizabeth.
